Cottage cheese may be fun to eat, but according to majority of the female population, it is not so fun to see! In fact, research indicates that up to 90 percent of women have cellulite. So unless you are amongst that dimple-free 10 percent, keep reading in order to find out how to smooth those undesirable lumps out once and for all.
What In The World Is Cellulite?
Cellulite is simply this–a collection of fat that expands and pushes against the connective tissue of our skin ladies. Another female woe, I know. Men are usually exempt from cottage cheese thighs since their top layer of fat is held together by an organized network of elastic bands that run diagonally. Our bands however, run vertically. And over time–with age–they lose their elasticity and pow: here comes little pockets of fat poking through. Hello cellulite. Now you see why those fat-prone areas like the buttocks, thighs and stomach look the way they do? Don’t cry.
You know I keep it real with y’all, so I hate to say that I have some bad news: You can’t cure cellulite. Wait, don’t flip out just yet, because while you can’t get rid of it, you can reduce it. Don’t worry it’s not your fault. It’s your momma’s and your daddy’s, actually. The elastic bands that help keep the superficial fat from poking out and causing dimples comes from both your mom and dad’s genes. Plus, each person inherits a tendency to deposit fat in certain areas–which plays a role in how much cellulite they get. No wonder I have these same thighs like my momma! But I am going to help you win the fight against cellulite! Here’s my top five secrets!
What’s the thing you do best? Our biggest strengths can contribute significantly to our happiness, success and well-being — and to those of the people around us.
According to newly-released Gallup data, using one’s best talents can also play a role in one’s comfort. In more than 120,000 interviews conducted during the latter half of 2012, Gallup found that the more people use their strengths throughout the day, the less likely they are to say they feel physical pain.
At least 116 million Americans live with chronic pain, uncomfortable at best, debilitating and isolating at worst.
Despite existing health problems, 50 percent of people who do what they do best for at least 10 hours a day said they experience pain, while 69 percent of people who use their top strengths for three hours a day or less said they experience pain, according to the new report. The relationship also exists among people without any ongoing health issues, albeit more weakly: 13 percent of people who use their strengths for 10 or more hours a day reported physical pain, while 17 percent of people who use their strengths for three hours or fewer did.
Whether the people using their strengths all day long are simply more positive people or just more distracted is still to be determined, according to Gallup. But it’s certainly something to consider when reaching into the toolbox of pain management techniques. In addition to playing to your strengths, here are 10 more all-natural, little-known ways to make yourself more comfortable, fast.
African Americans should be concerned about heart disease. Combined, heart disease and stroke are the leading cause of death for African Americans, says Quinn Capers, MD, director of Peripheral Vascular Interventions at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and associate dean of Admissions at Ohio State’s College of Medicine. When asked why African American health is important to him, Dr. Capers replied, “I am keenly interested in African American health because our health statistics lag behind others in almost every important category, and in arguably the most important measure of health: life expectancy.” A few facts to consider: • … Continue reading The Facts About Blacks and Heart Disease
