The New Parkway Theater is an eclectic movie-going experience in the spirit of Oakland’s beloved Parkway Theater, where people not only go to watch movies, but to have an unforgettable night out with friends and community.
Enjoy a movie at the Parkway while sitting on a couch, enjoying a freshly cooked meal, and washing it down with wine or beer on tap. And doing it all for under $20-25.
- Mix and Match Monday
- On Monday nights, it’s all about meeting people and building community. Start at 7:30 with some mingling over popcorn and then jumping into their version of ‘speed-meeting’. This is not a singles event (though singles are welcome). This is not a networking event (though networkers are welcome). This is just a good, old-fashioned square dance, only without the country music and the dancing. A cool way to meet new people around a theme for the night. Best part is that it’s free and there are fun bennies if you match with someone you meet.
- Trivia Tuesday
- From 7:30-9PM on Tuesday nights, there is team trivia with three rounds of fascinating questions that will make you the life of the next party. Go with a team or Go by yourself and join up with others. No great wisdom or trivia experience necessary. This is a good time out amongst friends. And the winning team gets a pitcher of beer.
- Happy Artsy Wednesday
- Wednesday is Happy Hour all night long. That means they’re featuring $1 off all of their existing wine, beer, and sangria offerings, and they’ve got special cocktails to boot. Then, from 7:30-9PM, they’ve got arts and crafts on the mezzanine. Quite fitting for the city that boasts the largest percentage of artists anywhere in the US.
- Retro Thursday
- In honor of their showing of Parkway Classics on Thursday nights, Parkway lays out all of the old school board games from 6-10PM and cheer you on as you bust out the chess, backgammon, Monopoly, or even Mah Jong. And they occasionally have local game experts coming out to introduce new games and/or community game spaces.
